Seven Regional Hubs Expand the Federal Sickle-Cell Care Network

HHS and HRSA announced seven awards establishing Sickle Cell Disease Regional Care Excellence hubs, expanding the regional network from five to seven regions. Each hub must work with at least three clinical-community spokes, and the program says it will track quality-of-life indicators. The awards establish delivery infrastructure; they do not yet establish how many additional patients receive timely disease-modifying therapy, whether travel and access gaps narrow, or whether complications and hospital use decline.
